SKU:
Corriedale wool has a defined, even crimp and is smooth and easy to spin or felt. You can spin a fine to medium woollen, worsted or semi-worsted yarn using it. Corriedale will bulk after washing and has good elasticity. It is ideal for baby wear, woven, knitted, crocheted or felted garments.
Ashford wool sliver is 100% pure New Zealand wool. Their wool is grown on sheep farms in the South Island of New Zealand where the sheep graze on large grassy paddocks and are free from mulesing. They only use wool with good length that is free from breaks, has high bulk, brightness, low vegetable matter and is the correct micron. The wool is washed using a standard aqueous treatment with eco-friendly biodegradable detergent. Then in Ashford's very own woollen mill in Milton, their staff ensure every process is to the highest standard. They steam dry, card, gill, comb and finally wind into bumps. The sliver is then ready to use with no waste or preparation.
Fibre Diameter: 27-30 micron
Staple Length: ~11cm (4¼")
At True North Yarn we have split the 1kg bumps as they arrive into 100g packs, careful to gently separate the staples. Each 100g pack is not necessarily one long unbroken sliver - there may be a few smaller pieces in there to ensure you have a full 100g!
