SandnesGarn Børstet Alpakka

Børstet Alpakka consists of alpaca fiber twisted together with a strong nylon thread, which holds everything together when the alpaca fibers are brushed. The result is a soft, light and airy yarn with a fuzzy texture.

Alpaca is about three times warmer than ordinary wool and thus insulates well. The fiber is hollow and breathable, so it feels warm in cold temperatures and cool in warm ones.

For machine washing, SandnesGarn recommends that all wool garments be washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Centrifuge well and dry the garment flat, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt.

Brushed yarns are very versatile, knitting Børstet Alpakka with needles 5.00mm through 7.00mm could give you a range of tensions, from 12 stitches to 16 stitches per 10cm - so it could be considered a worsted weight or a chunky weight, depending on the type of tension you want it knit at!
